Duwisib Castle
Replete with history and romance Duwisib Castle is an ideal stopover for visitors en route to the south of Namibia. It is a historical site and a national monument, which is a convenient stopover when travelling from Sesriem and Sossusvlei. German Baron Von Wolf built the castle for his American bride Ms Jayta Humphreys in the early 1900s. Apart from being a gift of love, the castle was a dream turned into reality for Baron Von Wolf. Unfortunately, his dream was short-lived as he was killed during World War I in Germany. His wife returned to America, leaving the castle with most of its contents behind. The museum houses a collection of 18th and 19th-century antiques, armours and paintings. The castle has five rooms in which to accommodate guests and ten campsites on the grounds.
